Biography

Jan N. Basile, M.D. was the chief of primary care at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center from where he retired in 2009 after 31 years of service. He is currently professor of medicine in the division of Cardiology at MUSC. In addition to contributing to the 7th joint national committee report on the prevention, detection, evaluation, and treatment of high blood pressure (JNC 7), Dr. Basile has contributed over 400 publications to the scientific literature including original articles, abstracts, and book chapters.
